Playfair Display is a display serif typeface. A display typeface is traditionally intended for use at large sizes. This makes display fonts more appropriate for headings, rather than body text. Display typefaces will often have more eccentric and variable designs than the simple, relatively restrained typefaces generally used for body text. This typeface also resembles the serif typeface category, which I explain under Merriweather.

Pairs well with: Quicksand, Raleway and Lato.

2 | Merriweather

Merriweather is a serif typeface. A serif is a small line attached to the end of a stroke in a letter or symbol. Serif fonts are best used for printed materials and larger sized text. However, Merriweather was designed to be used for on-screen reading. Serif is considered to be more traditional, formal and classic. 

Pairs well with: Quicksand, Raleway and Lato.

3 | QuickSand

Quicksand is a display sans serif typeface. A display typeface is traditionally intended for use at large sizes. This makes display fonts more appropriate for headings, rather than body text. Display typefaces will often have more eccentric and variable designs than the simple, relatively restrained typefaces generally used for body text. This typeface also resembles the sans serif typeface category, which I explained in the Oswald category

4 | IBM Plex Serif

IBM Plex Serif is a serif typeface. A serif is a small line attached to the end of a stroke in a letter or symbol. Serif fonts are best used for printed materials and larger sized text. Serif is considered to be more traditional, formal and classic.

Sans serif fonts are best used for large amounts of copy for on-screen reading as they are believed to be more legible. Sans serif fonts are also considered to be more modern, friendly and casual.
