The Functions and Uses of Each Squarespace Image Block

Squarespace Blocks come with a wide range of functions and categories. Today, we're going to focus on the functions and uses of each Squarespace image block. 

The Squarespace image block is how you add images to your website. Each image block gives you a variety of ways to display the image you choose to upload. Squarespace offers six unique image blocks that are available across all the templates. In this blog post, I'm going to walk you through what each image block looks like and the best ways to use them. 

 

Poster

The poster image block is one of six image blocks that Squarespace offers and can be added to pages and blog posts.

The poster image block displays text over the image. You can also add a button to this image under the text. This layout can be great for your homepage or a landing page as it easily communicates a message and you can include a call-to-action with the use of a button.

Card

The card image block is one of six image blocks that Squarespace offers and can include a button or link.

The card image block aligns text to the right or left of your image block. This layout is a good option for announcements. It's best to keep the text short and descriptive. Use the link or button feature if you need to provide additional information.

Overlap

The card image block is one of six image blocks that Squarespace offers and gives you the freedom to pick display options.

The overlap image block displays an image on one side with text on the other, partially overlapping the image. You can also add a background color to the title for a highlighting effect. This layout is a great option for promotional content like content upgrades or sales.

Collage 

The card image block is one of six image blocks that Squarespace offers and offers one of the better text display options.

The collage image block displays an image on one side and text over a background "card," offsetting and overlapping the image. This layout is a great option for portfolio pieces with the ability to add more text for longer descriptions.

Stack

The stack image block is one of six image blocks that Squarespace offers and is the best text display option.

The stack image block displays an image with text below, with an optional background color. This layout can be a great option for articles or blog posts. With the ample space for text, this is one of the better options the image blocks offer for lengthy text.

Inline

The stack image block is one of six image blocks that Squarespace offers and is considered the original image block.

The inline image block displays a plain image with an optional caption. This layout can be great for any images as it is the most basic image block choice with optional captions.
